First, go to AAHA.org to enter the chip number and look up the chip registry. Scan the animal all over. Sometimes chips migrate and have been found by the belly and leg. Once you find the name of the registry, call the registry while animal is in custody. AAHA is the universal microchip lookup tool. AAHA will tell you which registry to call. This is critical because there is no single central database—each chip is tied to a specific company
Some companies have shut down in recent years, so re-registering chips in a secondary database is a good safety practice.
Here’s a practical list of major U.S. pet microchip registries with phone numbers. This is especially useful for shelters, rescues, and reunification efforts.

PLEASE register your chip with another provider. If you don’t know your chip number
any vet or Animal Control Officer should be able to scan and provide you the
information. Microchips WORK.
