Since its founding, Fixin The Coast has achieved significant, measurable success in reducing animal overpopulation and advancing animal welfare across Mississippi’s Gulf Coast.
The organization has facilitated more than 6,200 cat spay and neuter surgeries, representing a substantial reduction in future homeless animal populations. In addition, countless lifesaving surgeries and medical treatments have been provided, with the majority of services supporting community cats through targeted Trap–Neuter–Return (TNR) efforts.
Fixin The Coast has also made a lasting impact at the municipal level. The organization played an instrumental role in the passage of a city ordinance in Biloxi that allows for free-roaming cats, provided they are part of a managed TNR program. This policy change reflects a progressive, humane approach to population control and serves as a model for effective community-based solutions.
ESSENTIAL NEEDS DRIVE FOR HURRICANE VICTIMS
LAKE CHARLES OR BUST: When a life changing hurricane struck the Lake Charles, Louisiana area, our community didn’t hesitate to step up.
Fixin The Coast partnered in with several fellow rescue organizations to help load a U-Haul full of much-needed supplies for animals impacted by the storm. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our community, the truck was filled quickly with donations—everything from food and crates to essential care items.
Once loaded, teams from Fixin The Coast and Woodside Wildlife Rescue made the journey to Lake Charles to personally deliver the supplies to those in need. After ensuring everything reached the right hands, they made the trip back home—grateful to be part of such a compassionate and responsive network.
This effort is a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when a community comes together for animals in crisis.

TYLERTOWN OR BUST: When a devastating tornado virtually wiped out Tylertown, Mississippi, Fixin The Coast once again stepped up to serve on the front lines.
Without hesitation, we mobilized efforts to collect pet food and critical supplies for the animals affected by the disaster. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we were able to gather and deliver much-needed donations to local rescues and pet owners—helping ensure that beloved pets and “fur family members” did not go hungry during an incredibly difficult time.
In moments of crisis, access to basic necessities can make all the difference. Fixin The Coast remains committed to supporting both animals and the people who love them, whenever and wherever the need arises.

“What began as a report of animal cruelty quickly turned into a heartbreaking reality no one should ever have to witness.
Local law enforcement reached out to Angie’s Dog House and our partners at New Hope Rescue, Inc. after uncovering a severe hoarding situation—92 cats and kittens living in unimaginable conditions.
Every single animal on the property was surrendered, giving them a chance at the care, safety, and compassion they so desperately needed.
This is the reality of animal hoarding. But it’s also the beginning of hope.”
FOLEY, AL OR BUST: When Fixin The Coast saw the desperate plea for help on Facebook, there was no question—we had to act.
Once again, our organization stepped in to do what we are committed to doing: help animals in need.
Within a short time, we rallied support (including that from Pearl River County Animal Shelter) and collected over 4,000 pounds of cat litter, then made the drive to Alabama to deliver it directly to the rescue teams on the ground. We didn’t just drop it off—we stayed to help unload, ensuring these 92 cats and kittens would finally have something so basic, yet so critical: clean litter boxes—something many of them had gone without for weeks.
In the midst of heartbreaking situations, small comforts like cleanliness and dignity matter. And thanks to an incredible community effort, that’s exactly what these animals received.
These accomplishments demonstrate the organization’s ongoing commitment to producing tangible results through strategic action, collaboration, and community support.
Beginning in 2026, expanded services to include spay/neuter voucher support for pet dogs to help address the growing overpopulation crisis.
Established Animal Control Officer (ACO) Day to recognize and appreciate local Animal Control professionals by providing appreciation events and hosted lunches.

EDUCATION CHALLENGES: Launched the ACO Challenge Coin Program in 2023, allowing Animal Control Officers to earn recognition coins by completing designated field tasks and educational courses.
Started hosting formal Animal Control training programs in 2025, with many courses offered at no cost to departments and officers.
ANIMAL WELFARE CENTER – run through AI and eliminate the weird lines please
In early 2026, completed installation support for the Biloxi Animal Welfare Center, helping equip the facility to provide housing, food, and care for animals during a five-day stray hold. Additional cities will receive similar facility support as funding allows.
